Words can't quite accurately describe the overwhelming sense of joy and accomplishment I felt when Alleen (TandA Media) broke the news that I was approved to photograph Avenged Sevenfold at the SasTel Center (my hometown arena). If I were to hang up the camera today I would always have that memory, and honestly, that would be enough for me. Thankfully though, I don't have a desire to call it quits any time soon!
"The Stage World Tour"strolled through Saskatoon back on February 14th, a lovely way to celebrate Valentine's Day. With Breaking Benjamin and Bullet For My Valentine along for the ride expectations were high that this would be one of the best concerts of the year. Bullet's early onslaught to open the show was blistering and in your face. Even with Benjamin Burnley's illness during Breaking's set his courageous effort to perform was met with admiration and applause and brought out an emotional element. Avenged ripped through a roller coaster set of their greatest songs for almost two hours.
Highlights of the night for me were Breaking Benjamin's Lightsaber drums at the end of the catwalk and Avenged Sevenfold's giant astronaut dropping down from the ceiling.
